THIS IS MY HEART

In 2022, I wrote the poem This is my heart for the second issue of Combo Magazine, edited by Louise Follain. Under the theme «Myths of the near future», this poem is a declaration of love to the world, in the spiritual sense of the term. I write it in the manner of a meditation, a prayer. The musicality of the verses is such that I decide to interpret it in the form of spoken word, a significant part of Queendom of Illusion’s DNA.

Highly influenced by pieces such as Synopsis One: In The Ghetto / God Save The Word by the collective 24 Carat Black, or Birdland by Patti Smith and I Trawl the Megahertz by Prefab Sprout, QoI places itself in this radical register that is spoken word. It is a space of poetic, narrative and deeply committed expression.

This is my heart is an acid, orchestral heartbeat, a physical, lyrical rhythm interwoven with lyrics and electronic layers of sound. This track would not exist without the artist Sylvain ‘Habibisly’ Rabbath, who took part in the composition and final production of this opening track for the Queendom of Illusion project.

Photographer Lucas Matichard (who is the artistic director of the image for Népal’s latest album, Adios Bahamas), curious and enthusiastic about the project, created the final artwork for This is my heart.

October 2023, I walk on a beach in Normandy and I discover this shell that transcends me. Its coral «arteries» strangely resemble those of an organic human heart. This sculpture offered by nature, which resonates so strongly with This is my heart is the ultimate element for the artwork of the single. I then work with my friend and jewelry developer Mathide Jauny to make a solid silver cast of the shell, in the workshops of the crafts of the house of Chanel.
